FASHION & BEAUTY

This month we are looking for fresh, effortless and naturally chic looks to go. With contouring leaving the fashion foray and a more natural, luminous and dewy look taking the season by storm, we’re going back to effortless chic this month with phenomenal items that will have you bouncing beautifully through spring.

PIXI SKINTREATS - Rose Oil Blend

Start your natural youthful glow off with a delightful dose of rose oil from Pixi. This botanical blend is infused with a powerful complex of youth-preserving oils that help to improve skin's elasticity. Packed full of sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils, your skin is left nourished, comforted and smooth to the touch.

CLINIQUE Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer

An oil-free foundation and concealer in one. So if you want to achieve a quick flawless look with a luminous and matte effect at the same time, then this is your go to product. A little goes an long way and it lasts all day long too. For those that have oily skin, a light dust of mineral powder over the top will sort that right out. Allergy tested and100% fragrance free.

BENEFIT High Beam Complextion Enhancer

A satiny pink liquid highlighter that accents cheek and brow bones for a fresh faced dewy look. Use it as a spot highlighter over makeup, or under your foundation for an all over subtle and long lasting radiant glow. High Beam is versatile product that Illuminates, uplifts and highlights just where you want it. Why not spread a little on your collar bone and decalotage too for a little sexy shimmer.

We’re loving this season’s shorter trouser, from light weight cropped jeans to summery culottes. Both offering a versatile, elegant and playful look and that just stepped out of Paris look, what’s not to love! Both styles get bonus points for also being super comfy, easy to pack and cool enough for the summer holiday months. Now you can show off your fabulous shoes, be it your favourite ankle boots, comfy pumps or for a little sunshiny glamour, this season’s cute scrappy ‘hue heel.’ Both Audrey Hepburn and Lauren Becall were fans of the cropped trouser. For effortless styling for any occasion, get with the crop and cash in on the culotte.

DESIGNER FOCUS - john galliano

Fashion Show Play the 50's in 1995 in Paris.

John Galliano was the first British designer to work as head designer for French fashion houses, Givenchy and Christian Dior, whilst simultaneously running his own label Galliano. Impressive. Graduating from Saint Martin's School of Art and design in London (1984). His first collection, entitled Les Incroyables, was deeply inspired by the French Revolution, but with a love for theatre and femininity, Galliano says his role is to ‘seduce’ and is essential to his creations. With a flair for the dramatic coupled with a little Parisian chic, Galliano certainly seduced us all with his artistic direction and designs for his 50’s fashion show in Paris. Phenomenal, feminine and sophisticatingly sensual. J’adore. Now how do we go about getting those frocks in for our next shoot!

LIFESTYLE & CULTURE

UK Festival Season

Festival Season is already upon us and with so many to choose from its hard to not just opt for a permanent summer of festivaling. So if you’re ooking for a festival that suits you in the UK this year, heres a lovely long list of fab gigs to choose from.

From jazz and blues, 80’s pop to T in the park there’s something for everyone. Between us we’re planning to hit up FSTVL, Ubberfest, Rock the Moor and glastonbury, what about you? Why not go get your festival calendar in order and let your hair down with an ubber cool festival this summer.

Cannes Film Festival

For 12 days in May, all eyes turn to Cannes and the glitzy Côte d’Azur. As Cannes becomes the centre of the cinematic universe, more than 30,000 producers, distributors, directors, publicists and stars come to buy, sell or promote more than 2000 films.

I’m unable to make it this year to the the villa my friends hire, but whether you are in film or not, the cannes film festival is a super glamorous affair and open to all. So grab yourself a pass, a bikini, a gown and your best heels and get involved with the jet set at one of the hottest events of the year.

Alchemy Festival, South Bank

A 10 festival in celebration of South Asia's rich culture, featuring music, dance, literature, film and fashion. Alchemy's programme will showcase talent from the UK and the Indian subcontinent and explore creativity grown from our shared history. Events include a special Romeo and Juliet documentary, in which a UK and Bangladeshi theatre company come together to create a training programme for people with disabilities, plus a documentary screening of Afghani women who have developed memoir writing in order capture women’s stories in their country. (May 20-30th)

HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS

Try something a little different this year. Why not give  Marbella, Morocco, Tenerife and the Cote d’azure (unless you’re going tothe Cannes film festival that is) a break and embark on a new adventure. Life’s too short not to experience new and different things right? So, our choices this month include cultural experiences, relaxation and rejuvenation, adventure and fun in places that offer a lot more than just cheap flight and a steady temperature gauge. Check out this months choices we’re thinking about. A little something for everyone here.

BELIZE

Nestled in the Caribbean sea between Mexico, Honduras and Gualtemala, the sunny island of Belize has the second largest coral reef in the world. There is so much to do here for nature loving adventurers. From Kayaking, fishing and snorkelling to diving with whale sharks, mountain climbing and cave exploring to cave tubing in the majestic Mayan underworld, there really is something for everyone. Belize is definitely the little island with a huge history. With Mayan mountains, giant stalagmites, waterfalls and lagoons, the worlds first Jaguar sanctuary and colourful cuisine, we think Belize is a phenomenal paradise to escape to. (Click the picture to discover more things to see and do in Belize).

BEAUTIFUL BHUTAN

The Himalayan wonderland where the passage of time has not altered tradition. The beautiful people of Bhutan have managed to retain their unique customs, inspired by Buddha’s teaching and the charm of the old world. Off the traditional tourist track, there is still plenty to see and do. Misty mountains, broad rivers, colourful markets, hill top fortresses and monasteries that are still active today. Kayaking, water rafting, walking tours and colourful festivals such as Paro in March and Thimpu in October. Bhutan’s rich culture is inspiring, but with governmental policies such as GNH (Gross national happiness) Bhutan really is a country showing the world the ‘phenomenal’ way.

TROPICAL ISLAND IN GERMANY FOR ALL THE FAMILY

For something a little different and a little closer to home head to Tropical Islands Resort near Berlin. Located in a former airfield hanger, here you will find clear blue water, sandy beaches and idyllic palm trees, lagoons, wildlife, bars, spa’s and restaurants, attractions for the kids and recreational facilities that include hot air ballooning and sky diving. With a range of sleeping options from Thai inspired suites in the rainforest to a tipee’s on the beach, we think its a phenomenal concept and a wonderful use of an unused place. For a perfect short break away for all the family, without breaking the bank, Tropical Islands is one your kids will definitely thank you for.

COSTA RICA

Why not go for a beautiful beach holiday in costa rica? Boasting some of the best beaches around with warm azure waters, volcanoes and a jungle, what’s not to love. Costa Rica is a tropical wilderness with over 350 species of birds, so definitely a nature lovers paradise. Here you get to explore the rainforests, spy macaws and toucans and watch the cheeky monkeys play.

Fancy a little more open air fun, then grab a surfboard and take to the waves or venture off on horseback along one of the many mesmerising beaches. Why not get in some outdoor relaxation in one the many natural hot springs or take a coffee tour and discover the amazing history and culture of this Spanish speaking, central American little piece of paradise.

THE AMALFI COAST

Seductive and beautiful, the Amalfi Coast is a 50-kilometer stretch of gorgeous coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula. With it’s coastal glamour and superb hiking possibilities, it’s a popular holiday destination with the jet set and travellers alike. Sheer limestone cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-coloured fishing villages certainly make for a picture postcard experience.

Head to Sorrento and take in the grand villas, terraced vineyards, cliffside lemon groves and pretty coloured village houses, or why not take an easy boat trip from Amalfi to a sunbed lined beach in Moiri or a secluded sandy nook at Minor. With incredible restaurants and a relaxed vibe, the Amalfi coast is perfect for that romantic get away.

CAPE VERDI

The collection of islands that make up Cape Verde float in Atlantic Ocean just 500 kilometres off the coast of Senegal. Incredible beaches, lively surf and the possibility to dive among shipwrecks, the island is best known for its eclectic cultural mix of Creole, Portuguese-African culture, mot evident in the islands food and music.

Why not take a sea turtle catamaran cruise, do a little fishing, hiking or water sports on santa monica beach, or perhaps blaze a trail through one of the desserts in a 4x4. A beautiful island with a lot to offer, Cape Verdi is a culturally diverse and fascinating destination that’s not much further from the UK than the popular Baleric Islands. I'm looking forward to discovering some treasure on this island.

LUXURY LIVING

Spiritual yoga retreat in Bali or seven days at sea with the best parties Yacht week in Croatia? Either way a little luxury, adventure and relaxation make for some serious phenomenal living. We’re loving the idea of yacht week in Croatia (also in Thailand) which offers you seven days of sailing, exploring stunning destinations, hanging out at the hottest spots and includes the ultra beach party festival. Or perhaps you’d prefer a more spiritually charged setting in that lends itself perfectly to a greater sense of calm? This months choice is Bali.

(See all our spa choices below)

the ultimate party Yacht week in croatia

Fancy sailing on a yacht with friends for a whole week? Then it's time for a crazy adventure where you will explore the islands of Croatia, party on a boat, party on the beach and dance somewhere different everyday, with exclusive events, (including the Ulta music festival) live DJ's and a host of other yachters all sailing the same route together. Sail into Hvar, the St Tropez of Croatia and discover the culture, the glamour and become part of a fun community that knows how to live a phenomenal life. Who said you had to be a billionnaire to see the word from your own yacht! Trips are also available in the Caribean, Thailand, Greece, Turkey and the British Virgin islands, so take your pick. This is most certainly on my list of Phenomenal things to do. I may well be 20 years to old to party this hard nowadays, but who knows, maybe I will see you there.

A little balinese beauty

For the ultimate spa break, head to Bali for a sensational, sun kissed sanctuary. Indulge in a coconut scrub, herbal steam or iced cuccumber bath at Alila villa, or check out the W Hotel, a martial arts inspired Zen spa with a detox oxygen room proven to cure any hangover. They also provide 2am massage’s and wushu breathing and stretching to get your chi flowing.

We also like the Como Shambhala Bali Estate, a jungle wonderland right up in the trees. A little like a glam tree house with an all round wellbeing experience that is completely immersive (There’s even a psycotmherapist on site). It’s also the winner of Condenasts best destination spa award and Dona Karan goes there to rejuvenate. So we’re giving it phenomenal points too.

Two other fab options are the Five elments, Puri Ahimsa, for a cultural balinese experience and traditional balinese purification blessing ceremonies. The Five Seasons is guided by Balinese philosophy and tradition to facilitate positive change in the world. Sustainable, natural and peaceful, definitely worth checking out. Our final choice is the Four seasons resort, at Sayan, Bali. For all round glamour, alongside the opportunity to hang upside down doing antigravity yoga in a paddy field sounds like phenomenal behaviour.

CELEBRITY GLAMOUR FOR UNDER A TENNER

Isn’t it every girl’s dream to live life like a glamorous celeb? Unfortunately, keeping up with the Kardashian’s or the Beckham’s does nothing more than bump up an already over bulging bank account. Unlike Victoria and her Louis Vuitton lined pockets, most of us have little more than a gaping hole burning its way through the lining. However, with a little imagination and a sense of adventure you really don’t have to be massively minted to have a good time. These days, it would seem that even a penniless princess can work it Hollywood style and for not much more than a tenner.
